Open Delta Transformer connection:
This diagram shows Open Delta Transformer connection. In this circuit, we use two electric transformers for making the connection. This circuit diagram is very simple and easy to make connect it. If you want to know more about this circuit, please check our youtube video below the post. For more information please check our category.

Components used to make the Open Delta Transformer connection:
The primary voltage of the transformer is 11 KV and the secondary is 0.4 KV high voltage. This is a delta star transformer, the high voltage of this transformer uses a delta connection and the low voltage uses a star connection.11KV power transformers are commonly used in power transmission substations to step down high-voltage transmission to distribution levels. 11KV transformers are more often used in distribution substations and on utility poles to further step-down voltage for supply.

Frequently asked questions
Delta-Star Connection of Transformer – Three-Phase Transformer Connection. In the case of the delta-star connection of a 3-phase transformer, the primary winding is connected in delta while the secondary winding is connected in star (see the figure). Primary Winding − The primary winding is connected in the delta.
Open the Delta connection systems are usually only used in emergency conditions when one of the transformers in the Delta-Delta system was damaged, and removed from service. Efficiency for the operation of the open delta connection was low as compared to delta-delta systems which were used during standard operations.
Both have an advantage. On the Transmission side, we use a delta connection because in HV transmission is done from phase to phase. In the distribution, we use the star connection. Because neutral is required for passing the current and passing the unbalance current in the circuit.
An open delta connection system was also called a V-V system. Open-the-delta connection systems were usually only used in emergency conditions, as their efficiency was low when compared to delta-delta (closed delta) systems (which were used during standard operations).
Star connections are mainly required for the Power Transmission Network for longer distances, whereas delta connections are mainly in Distribution networks and are used for shorter distances. In the star connection, each winding receives 230 volts and in the delta connection, each winding receives 415 volts.
