LM340 Voltage Regulator Transistor -Simple Electronic Project

Introduction

The LM7805 & LM340 Family monolithic Three-terminal positive voltage regulators employ internal current limiting, thermal shutdown, and safe-area compensation, making them essentially indestructible. If adequate heat sinking is provided, they can deliver over the 1.5-A (fix 5V) output current.

Used as a fixed voltage regulator, this device can be used with external components to obtain adjustable output voltages and currents. Considerable effort was expended to make the entire series of regulators easy to use and minimize the number of external components.

It Regulates voltage during power fluctuations and variations in loads. It can regulate AC as well as DC voltages. A voltage regulator usually takes in a higher input voltage of 30V and emits a lower, more stable output voltage.

Working Principle

Line Regulation: The change in output voltage for a change in the input voltage. The measurement is made under conditions of low dissipation or by using pulse techniques such that the average IC chip temperature is not significantly affected.

Quiescent Current: That part of the input current that is not delivered to the Output load.

Load Regulation: The change in output voltage for a change in load current at constant chip temperature. Max. Power Dissipation – The max. total device dissipation for which the regulator will operate within specifications.

Output Noise Voltage: The AC voltage at the output, with constant load and no input Voltage, measured over a specified frequency range.

Frequently asked questions

How To Make a 5V Regulator?

It is a very small five-vote regulator. Which we can wrap inside the wire itself. It can supply up to 30 volts at its input and output is fixed 5 volts. An IC 78L05 is needed to make it.

How to make a voltage regulator?

Voltage Regulator 5V Fix

L7805 voltage regulator, a three-terminal positive regulator with a 5V fixed output voltage. This fixed regulator provides local regulation, internal current limiting, thermal shut-down control, and safe area protection for your project.

How to design 5V power supply?

5V Regulated Power Supply Kits provide a constant voltage (regulated power ) at the output of xx volts if the input voltage is within a given range. Example 7805 regulator transistor fix.

How to 5V power supply?

12V power supply by its operation of linear or switch mode. A linear 12V power supply is easy to build, as it involves a transformer, diode bridge circuit, a 5V DC regulator, and bypass capacitors to minimize fluctuation of the voltage.
