The phase Current (I) in amps (A) is equal to 1000 times the Real Power (P) in kilowatts (kW), divided by the power factor PF times the RMS voltage V in volts (V):
For example, let’s find the current of an 8 kW motor with an efficiency of 75% and a power factor of 0.8 at 220 volts.

Calculation with Line to Line Voltage:
The phase Current I in amps (A) is equal to 1000 times the Real Power (P) in kilowatts (kW), divided by the square root of 3 times the power factor PF times the linetoline RMS voltage V_{LL} in volts (V):
For example, let’s find the current usage of a 30 kW 3phase motor with an efficiency of 80% and a power factor of 0.9 at 440 volts (line to line).
I_{(A)} = 1000 x P_{(Kw)} ÷ √3 x Pf x V_{(V)}
I_{(A)} = 1000 x 30 ÷ √3 x 0.9 x 440

Calculation with Line to Neutral Voltage:
The phase Current (I) in amps (A) is equal to 1000 times the Real Power (P) in kilowatts (kW), divided by 3 times the power factor PF times the line to neutral RMS voltage V_{LN} in volts (V):
For example, let’s find the current usage of a 15 kW 3phase motor with an efficiency of 80% and a power factor of 0.9 at 440 volts (line to Neutral).
I_{(A)} = 1000 x P_{(Kw)} ÷ 3 x Pf x V_{(V)}
I_{(A)} = 1000 x 15 ÷ 3 x 0.9 x 440
I_{(A)} = 13 A
