Feel like controlling one light using two separate places? The ideal solution is the use of the two-way switch wiring system. This circuit can be installed between staircases or very long hallways and is done using two SPDT switches and two traveler wires to give you the ability to conveniently turn on the light from either end. This is how this works.
Wiring Formula:
- Live → Switch 1 → Traveler Wires → Switch 2 → Light → Neutral

The two-way wiring switch enables one light to be controlled at two locations, one to switch on, the other to switch off. This is usually applied in staircases, long corridors, and bedrooms that have two doors for access. This arrangement has two SPDT (single pole double throw) switches and two travel wires between them. Each switch is toggled, which switches the state of the circuit and switches on or off the light. This system of wiring brings in extra convenience and is embedded in the design of home automation or simpler electrical installation in the contemporary houses.
