Switch and Socket connection diagram:

This diagram shows how to make a switch and socket connection. In this circuit, we use a total of 13 3-pin power socket switch outlets, a DP MCB ( Double Pole Miniature Circuit Breaker ), and a single-phase energy meter. First, we need to input power to the energy meter, then input power to DP MCB from the energy meter, then input phase and neutral line to all sockets from DP MCB, and lastly input earthing connection to all sockets. Now this circuit is ready for use. If you want to know more about this circuit please check our youtube video below the link.

Components used to make the Switch and Socket connection diagram:

01. 3-Pin Socket:

A Power Socket is a Device to Which Electrical Devices Can Be Connected to Receive the Electric Current Required For Their Operation. Connected by a System of Cables to a Power Source, Usually, an Electricity Generation Facility operated by an energy Production company, generally has no moving parts. Instead, it contains metal strips that make contact with the prongs of an Electric plug inserted into the socket. It is Through these Contacts That the Electric current is Transmitted. Electrical Devices that connect to a Power Source Through a Power Socket are Considered to be Portable Because they can easily be Connected and Disconnected From the Power Source.

02. Single Phase Energy Meter:

A Single-Phase Energy Meter is a sort of Watt-Hour meter. It consists of two Electromagnets. Single-Phase Energy Meter is also Popularly known as a watt-hour meter. 1 Magnet is called the shunt magnet Ml which is Mounted with a Pressure coil. The Pressure coil is a long coil Made of fine Copper wire that is connected across the Supply single-phase line. Single-phase energy meters are suitable for measuring single-phase AC current flow frequencies of 50/60 Hz, which are used for fixed indoor installation systems.

03. DP MCB:

DP MCB In 2 Pole MCB, switching & protection is affected in phases and the neutral. A Double Pole or DP Switch is a Switch that Controls 2 Circuits at the same time. In terms of Residential Switching, this Normally means it Switches the live and Neutral at the same time. In Layperson Terms, Double Pole switches or DP Switches are Exclusively Designed to Control 2 Different Electrical Circuits at the same time, which allows the Appliances to Isolate safely and reliably. Fan or light Combinations and Medical Equipment are some of the many applications for DP Electrical Switches and Electrical components.

Frequently asked questions

Which line is connected to the switch?

The switch should always be connected to the power supply live wire so that when it is off, no current flows through the appliance. If it is connected to the neutral wire, the circuit always remains on even when it is off.

How switches are wired?

The feed wire (the hot wire coming from the service panel) and runs to the switch before it goes to the fixture. 2 cables enter the switch box: 1 supplying the power supply and one going to the fixture. The neutral wires are spliced, as and a black wire connects to each switch and terminal.

How do switches work in a circuit?

An electric switch is a device that interrupts the electron flow in a circuit diagram. Switches are primarily binary and devices: either fully on or off and light switches have a simple design. When the switch is turned off, the circuit diagram breaks and the power supply flow is interrupted.

Why is the switch connected to the live wire?

The switch must be placed in live wire to maintain the body of the appliance at zero potential in the switch-off position and if the switch is kept in neutral wire, then the body of the Project system appliance to keep the body at infinite potential in the switch-on position.

How is a light switch connected?

Standard and single-pole light switches have two screw terminals with a ground screw. 1 of them is for a “hot” wire that supplies the switch from the power supply source. The second screw terminal is for another hot wire known as the switch leg that runs between the light fixture and the switch.
